About AI Bottlenecks
A bottleneck-first dashboard tracking the state of AI, region by region. Every indicator surfaces what's blocking progress — not just the headline number. Europe is the launch region; the United States, United Kingdom, and China editions follow as their data fills in.
How we stay independent
AI Bottlenecks is a public-interest tool with a simple business model: the live dashboard, the methodology, the weekly newsletter, and a basic JSON API are free for everyone, always. Power-users — analysts, journalists, teams — can subscribe to Pro for historical exports, unlimited API access, custom alerts, and quarterly deep-dives.
We take no money from advertisers, no sponsorships from frontier labs, and no paid placements. Pro subscribers and (later) grants are what keep the free tier alive. That structure is the whole point: if the people building the AI also bought the dashboard, the dashboard would stop being useful.
What we measure
Four pillars: compute & infrastructure, regulation, funding, talent. Each pillar surfaces a small set of bottleneck indicators. The full definitions, sources, and validation rules live on the methodology page. Data is released under CC BY 4.0. Source URLs are sacred — when one breaks, the indicator shows "source unavailable" rather than stale numbers.
